    About me...

Hey! I’m Jordan and I am a mum to two beautiful boys. Born and raised in Gisborne, I have a strong sense of culture and understand the importance of keeping New Zealand's history alive and well. After spending some time in the states as a teenager I came back to New Zealand and completed high school, swiftly moving into early childhood education, becoming qualified by the age of 21. We have lived in Blenheim for six years now and we love this town thoroughly, I feel this is a great place to raise children, there is a rich sense of community here as well as a tonne of places to explore, which is handy with 2 busy boys.

    Work experience

I have been the co-ordinator for Step 2 Growth since 2012. Before this I held many positions within ECE, including 2IC, head teacher and programme manager for Te Reo and music.

My passion has always been with Early Childhood Education and with over 10 years' experience behind me, I have finally found a service I love and support within home-based education. It is so nice to work for a company that is family-orientated, ensuring the perfect work/life balance, which is beneficial as a working mum.

    My philosophy

I truly believe that home-based education provides the best quality care for children, particularly under 2-year-olds. The low ratio of 1 educator to up to 4 children at any one time with no more than 2 babies ensures that children are receiving care that is enriched and loving, while your child’s sense of self is affirmed at all times.

Educators invest a huge part of themselves into looking after and educating the children that are entrusted to their care, and they take the responsibility of being chosen as your child’s educator seriously. Children and their families gain another special person in their lives that they come to depend and rely on, and the relationships that are built are irreplaceable.

Step 2 Growth offers true quality care and it is my job to ensure that your child/ren receive the best in home-based education, whilst ensuring the educators are well supported.

    My philosophy

I welcome the aspirations of families and children. Throughout my career I have appreciated and benefited from working with parents, educators and children who are likeminded. As we know, infants and young children are at a critical and fundamental stage of brain development. Your chosen  Educator is entering into a ‘partnership of trust’ with them. When that foundation of trust is nurtured, a young child's learning journey will be supported and extended at that child's own pace. I believe the ‘transfer of trust’ that occurs between family and Educator is a cherished and unique relationship. The small groups in Home-based care, here at Step 2 Growth ( of no more than 4 children), reflects the family feel which encompasses inclusiveness and belonging. Our Educators can give ‘full attention’ to your children,  encouraging them to develop in self identity and learning. I believe this is the key to growing confident competent children who can become their own unique selves.

    Work experience

I have a Teaching Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I am fully registered and have over 28 years teaching experience. I feel privileged to have experienced a broad range of exciting and successful opportunities, while empowering families and children.

Some of the roles I have undertaken are:-

-College Tutor for Educators in the Home-based service.

    -Teacher in Early Childhood Centres.

    -Coordinator for Home-based Services.

    -Home-based Educator.

My preference for teaching, supporting and caring for children in small groups, has seen me actively involved in Home-based services over the years. I have been a keen supporter of Step 2 Growth from the beginning and it is great to be part of the team.

    About me..

Kia Ora. I am a mother and a grandmother. I have lived in Blenheim for ten years and I enjoy being part of this community.  Christchurch is where I grew up and trained as a teacher. I am passionate about empowering families and our community. As a lifelong learner,  myself, I  really appreciate the experiences children bring to our lives. I love that Step 2 Growth is a locally owned service,  offering quality care and education to you and your children. I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to support your children, your  family and our educators here at Step2 Growth and in our community.
